Today was a productive day. For the second day being here, I feel comfortable and very open to everyone. The first day I was intimidated by everyone. I felt uncomfortable in class maybe because I didn’t get the chance to meet everyone. Being the second day, I found myself less nervous and more confident while i read my pieces out loud to my class.  Everyone in this program is very bright and their writing is amazing. I am very new to this style of writing, but I know i will catch on as I continue this program. I am intimidated, but that doesn’t stop me from trying. I believe I will learn and eventually develop the skills that many of these people have. I observe everyone in my class and I feed off of what they do. Its a way of learning perhaps. I made many new friends and I’m having a blast meeting people from all over the states, its interesting to see how different we all are yet share a great thing, which is writing without any boundaries. Today has come to an end, but tomorrow is a new day in which we learn something new. Each day is a learning experience and step by step we grow into something better. The young writers program is a great opportunity to expand our horizons. Its challenging but I’m enjoying the challenge.

Only the second day and they already have you sharing your writings in class. Quite a challenge for a young woman who questions her writing ability so much! But you did it, and doesn’t it make you feel a little bit stronger? Is your “voice” getting louder? Is it a bit easier for you to find, and others to hear? Well done J!!!! Mrs. T
I can see you are already becoming familiar with the intensity of the KYW daily exercises. I am glad you are not choosing to back away from the challenge, but standing tall and ready to face these obstacles. I’m glad you appreciate the brilliance of your peers, and I am sure they recognize your own intelligence and see your inner strength. It will get easier! Good luck Jen!!
