Judith moved to Hunts Point 5 years ago with her three children, Josue, Marie and David. She is a songwriter and singer, as well as a model and actress. She also uses her knowledge of the entertainment industry as a scout for rappers, models and new talent. Every summer she hosts the “Taking Back the Bad Rap of Hunts Point” celebration, the theme of her weekly radio show.
As a teen mother, Judith worked very hard to raise her children and be involved in their life, including volunteering in their schools in order to become familiar with the school system. Judith believes that parents have a difficult time becoming involved because their own parents were not and it is difficult to break this cycle. She also knows that the parents have a hard time understanding how the school works and what impact they can have. In Judith’s words, “when it comes to the new generations, it all starts from the home.”
Judith has been involved with HPAC since September 2008, when she was a member of the Parent Coaches program. She also has worked with HPAC’s education advocacy services.
