Project 2015 Scholarship Program

2015 group mainThe Project 2015 Scholarship Program was made possible through Bob Howitt,  Executive Director of the Family Development Center in Denville, NJ.

After meeting with HPAC staff and touring the neighborhood, Mr. Howitt decided Hunts Point would be an area worth investing in through development of the Project 2015, a scholarship program that  will build a cadre of successful teen role models through sponsoring scholarships for nine high school juniors in order to pursue four-year college degrees.

In addition to the scholarship, the Project 2015 recipients perform community service at HPAC member organizations and contribute articles to the quarterly literary magazine, Forum. The students also attend college preparatory classes taught by Bob Howitt, who also servs as a mentor for these nine youth and accompanies the students on field trips.

In September 2009, Mr. Howitt accompanied the students to Washington, D.C., where they learned about our nation’s government structure. For pictures of the trip, please click here.
